Custom Tray SOP

  1. Follow steps 1 and 2 in Model Designer SOP
  2. Navigate to ‘Tray’ tab on right side navigation menu (‘N’ on keyboard to show menu)
  3. Select either ‘Survey Upper’ or ‘Survey Lower’ from the menu
  4. Rotate the model using the rotation widget for appropriate path of insertion
  5. Select ‘Make Blocked Model’ from the appropriate section of the menu
  6. Select ‘Pencil Tray Outline’ from the appropriate section of the menu, then extrude the line around the area you want the tray to cover
  7. Fuse the line using either the ‘Fuse’ button on the menu, or by selecting the endpoint and start point by shift left-clicking and press the ‘F’ key
  8. To add tissue stops, you will need to do the following:
    1. Scroll down to the ‘Edit Tray Features’ section of the menu
    2. Select ‘Impression’, change the offset if desired, then select ‘Apply Offset’
    3. Select ‘Edit/Toggle’ from the menu next to the ‘Impression’ button
    4. View model from the top, and activate the magnet at the top of your window
    5. Using the ‘C’ key to toggle circle selection, select the vertices in the area of your choosing. Press the ‘G’ key and then left click to snap the vertices to the surface.
    6. Once finished, select ‘Edit/Toggle’ again to finalize.
  9. Select ‘Tray’ from the ‘Edit Features’ section, then select ‘Apply Offset’
    1. Once done, select ‘Finish Lower Tray’ or ‘Finish Upper Tray’
  10. Next you can choose whether or not you want beading on the border of your tray, if not then select ‘No Beading’ from the menu
  11. Now you will need to smooth the edges of your tray by selecting ‘Smooth Layer’ from the menu, when finished select ‘Exit’
  12. If you press the ‘Tab’ key and enter edit mode you may see that parts of the mesh have a different structure from the rest. To make the mesh more uniform, select ‘Remesh’ from the menu (default remesh value is 0.4)
  13. Now select either ‘Import Upper Handle’ or ‘Import Lower Handle’ from the menu. You may reposition the handle into an ideal location, and edit it’s height and length using the scale function (‘S’ on keyboard) and the ‘Edit’ option in the menu. You may style it with one of the four styling options in the menu, then select ‘Finish Handle’
  14. Lastly you will want to add perforations to your tray. To do this, select ‘Paint Holes’ at the bottom of the tray design menu. You will now be able to paint holes on the surface of your tray. When satisfied, select ‘Cut Holes’
